This article focuses on the interactions between the female contestants and Rodney.
Overview[]
Rodney is a hopeless romantic who is known to become attracted to a new girl every episode. These feelings will come about through simple actions like offering him food, preventing him from stepping in feces, or accidentally touching his hand. Throughout the course of Total Drama: Pahkitew Island, Rodney falls in love with nearly every female member of the Pimâpotew Kinosewak. The receiver of his affection never reciprocates these feelings, and thus she is usually left annoyed or confused by how incomprehensible his speech becomes. Whenever Rodney falls for someone new, he "breaks up" with the previous girl, much to her confusion and without being aware that they were ever together.
Amy[]
Amy is one of the many girls that Rodney falls hopelessly in love with. However, unlike most of the other girls who do not return his feelings, she is very mean to him, often attacking or insulting him. Despite this, Rodney doesn't seem to mind it and continues to be attracted to her.
In the opening sequence, Rodney is shown handing Amy a bouquet of flowers; however, she knocks it out of his hands, glaring at him.
In So, Uh, This Is My Team?, after Jasmine gives instructions, Amy grabs a flustered Rodney by the ear and drags him into the challenge after calling him the name "Mumbles." Later, Rodney pushes the wheelbarrow with pieces of wood in it towards the twins and carries them to safety from the barrage of tennis balls.
Rodney falls in love with Amy in I Love You, Grease Pig! after she punches him in the stomach while their team is discussing strategy for the challenge. As he stares at her lovingly, Amy seems to be confused by his expression. While he believes that their "relationship" is special, Rodney believes he and Jasmine are a "couple" at the time as well and eventually works up the courage to "break up" with her so he could be with Amy.
In Twinning Isn't Everything, Rodney defends Amy when Samey suddenly has an outburst towards her sister. When Jasmine accidentally touches Rodney's hand, he falls in love with her again and wants to "end things" between him and Amy. When he meets up with her during the challenge, he attempts to blurt out his breakout but once again jumbles up his words. Amy eventually leaves without Rodney even knowing. When Dave throws a balloon at him, Rodney assumes it was Amy and declares that he deserves it.
In I Love You, I Love You Knots, Rodney once again falls in love with Amy, though he doesn't know that it is actually Samey pretending to be her sister.
Ella[]
In I Love You, I Love You Knots, Rodney is touched when Ella admits she would change whatever is preventing her and Sugar from being close. The two are later selected as the representatives for their respective teams in the sudden death challenge. They are each required to untie a bag containing the opposing team's remote and activate the electric collars each member is wearing. Ella retrieves Team Maskwak's remote before Rodney and offers to help him, but Chris interrupts them before he could respond.
Jasmine[]
Jasmine becomes the first contestant Rodney falls in love with in So, Uh, This Is My Team?. They both attempt to voice their challenge strategies, but they continuously speak over each other. This is due to his being accustomed to dominance and her standing her ground against the "big guys," though she feels that he's intimidated by her. Rodney becomes infatuated with her when she confronts him directly, causing him to relinquish his plan in favor of hers. His speech is reduced to gibberish as he tries to kiss Jasmine. She is disturbed and backs away. When a hoard of moose run pass their team's shelter, Jasmine falls off her position on the roof. Rodney catches her and looks at her affectionately, prompting a glare from Jasmine's side.
In I Love You, Grease Pig!, Rodney once again stutters around Jasmine, but when an annoyed Amy punches him in the stomach, he falls out of love with her and in love with Amy. He is devastated as he reasons he must end his "relationship" with Jasmine. After Team Kinosewak wins the challenge, he does so through a slab of mumbled words. While he believes that she must be saddened, Jasmine states that she does not understand a single thing that Rodney is saying in the whole competition.
In Twinning Isn't Everything, Rodney once again begins to feel attracted to Jasmine, warranting the need to "break up" with Amy. In I Love You, I Love You Knots, Jasmine is one of the three girls that Rodney struggles to decide between over who is his "truest love."
Samey[]
In So, Uh This Is My Team?, Rodney carries Amy and Samey away from the pile in a wheelbarrow.
In Twinning Isn't Everything, Rodney defends Amy from Samey's angry outburst. During the challenge, he approaches the bickering twins, politely greeting Samey and requesting a private moment with her sister. Samey replies that he can take as much time as he needs as she storms off.
In I Love You, I Love You Knots, Rodney begins to feel attracted to Samey when she offers him some fruit, believing her to be Amy due to the events of the previous episode. He attempts to impress her by saying it is better than the fruit Samey picked. The other members of Kinosewak agree while Samey silently fumes over their trash talking of her. Samey, as Amy, is one of the three girls that Rodney struggles to decide between over who is his "truest love."
Scarlett[]
In So, Uh, This Is My Team?, Rodney is impressed by Scarlett's intelligence as she corrects Sugar's threat to Topher.
Rodney falls in love with Scarlett in I Love You, I Love You Knots when she keeps him from stepping in raccoon feces. She is one of the three girls that Rodney struggles to decide between over who is his "truest love."
Sky[]
In Lies, Cries and One Big Prize, when Chris asks who Sky would like as a helper, she picks Rodney for his physical strength. Unfortunately for her, she doesn't get to pick her partner, and Dave is picked instead.
Sugar[]
In Twinning Isn't Everything, Rodney tries to sneak up on Sugar and hit her with a balloon, but is in shock when she turns around and a snake is attached to her face. She then pulls it off and unintentionally throws it at him. Rodney feels she cheated as the snake was not contained in a balloon.
In I Love You, I Love You Knots, Rodney is unable to satisfy his challenge of singling out one of the females as the prettiest, as he does not wish to hurt the feelings of "Amy", Jasmine, or Scarlett. He resorts to choosing someone so "deranged" that they'll know it's a joke. Sugar speaks up, saying it's her that Rodney likes the most, and he plays along. However, Clucky indicates this is a lie by electrocuting Pimâpotew Kinosewak. During the sudden death round, Sugar roots for Rodney to shock Ella due to her hatred for her, willing to feel the effects herself.
Others[]
In his audition tape, Rodney reveals that he has "several girlfriends" back home and believes they are going to miss him when he joins the show. The known "girlfriends" he had are Debbie, Rachel, Alicia, Tammy, Christine, Becky, Mary Lou, Mary Jane, and many more, including a girl that he met at the store, though he's uncertain if she's really a girl though. However, Rodney states he never talked to Debbie and presumably not to his other "girlfriends" as well, as he falls in love with them after meeting them once. Much like his "girlfriends" on Total Drama, these girls most likely don't know about Rodney, let alone being in a "relationship" with him.
Trivia[]
- All of the girls that Rodney is attracted to are placed at an even number in Total Drama: Pahkitew Island.
- Rodney's attraction to Amy and Samey is similar to that of Sierra's with Cody and Cameron. In both cases, the contestant who is in love becomes attracted to another, similar contestant, who they believe is the first, and treats them in the same way.
