81% clear competency test for local bodies teachers in Bihar
Patna: As many as 81.42% candidates passed the state-level competency test for local bodies teachers (CTT), 2024 (second), the results of which were announced here on Saturday.
Declaring the results, Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB)'s chairperson Anand Kishor said altogether 80,713 working teachers, appointed initially on contract by local bodies, appeared at the test held from August 23 to 26 this year and of them 65,716 passed. The competency test was held for the teachers engaging classes from 1 to 5, 6 to 8, 9 and 10, and 11 and 12.
He further pointed out that out of 67,358 teachers who appeared in the class 1-5 exam, 54,840 passed—resulting in a pass percentage of 81.42. Similarly, for classes 6-8 exam, 8,232 candidates took the test, of which 6,702 qualified, achieving a pass percentage of 81.41. For classes 9 and 10, 3,395 candidates out of 4,032 (84.20%) passed, and for classes 11 and 12, only 779 out of 1,091 teachers (71.40%) qualified the test.
The competency test was held online at 42 selected computer centres in Patna in different shifts, each of two hours and 30 minutes duration. As many as 150 objective type questions were asked in all the tests. The question paper consisted of 30 questions on language, 40 on general studies and 80 on the subject concerned. The qualifying marks for different categories of candidates were 40% for general, 36.5% for BC, 34% for EBC, 32% for SC/ST, disabled and women candidates.
The chairman said this result is provisional and the education department will arrange for counselling, to be announced later, of all these candidates. Moreover, the successful candidates will be first allotted district and during their counselling they will be allotted schools. Candidates will be informed about this subsequently by the education department, he said.
Kishor said the BSEB had conducted re-examination in music, home science, Hindi, dance and Persian subjects for classes 9-10 exam and in history and home science on November 13, the results of which would be announced by the end of the current month.
