UP reinforces ban on govt employees joining pvt cos
Lucknow: Pursuant to a recent Allahabad High Court direction to reinforce Rule 16 of the Uttar Pradesh Govt Servants Conduct Rules, 1956, prohibiting govt employees from being members of private companies, chief secretary Manoj Kumar Singh issued orders on Friday, highlighting the rule once again.
Rule 16 prohibits govt servants from participating in registration, promotion, or management of companies without prior govt approval, with some exceptions for cooperative societies and charitable organisations.
Singh was directed to ensure that all officials are made aware of the provisions of Rule 16, verify if any govt servants are violating it and take appropriate action.
He was also asked to submit a report to the HC within six months regarding compliance.
