DEHRADUN: An unidentified individual, allegedly gained unauthorised access to the official Facebook page of Chamoli district police and uploaded an inappropriate photo with a link to a pornographic clip on the page on Saturday.
The story was visible for almost an hour from 10am, eliciting comments from people on its page. The district police took cognisance of the matter and initiated a probe.
A district police officer, familiar with the case, said Chamoli SP Rekha Yadav has “ordered an investigation to identify the person responsible”. The officer said, “The objectionable photo was removed from the page and replaced with the insignia of Chamoli Police, which was originally there. The probe is underway to identify and apprehend the accused,” he said.
Yadav has not provided any further information regarding the incident. This marks the second such instance within the state police over the past few months. Previously, a case was registered against an unidentified person for posting a porn link on the official Facebook page of the state police headquarters.
