Skoda Auto India has entered much competitive sub-compact SUV segment by launching the new Skoda Kylaq SUV in the Indian market. The Kylaq is based on the brand’s MQB-A0-IN platform and will measure less than four metres in length. The Kylaq goes up against already established players such as Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO and other sub-compact SUVs in its segment. Prices for the model start at Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom), with the full price list to be disclosed later. Bookings for this compact SUV will begin on December 2, and deliveries are slated to begin from January 27, 2025. Another engine is the 117hp, 1.5-litre turbo diesel paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT gearbox. The AX5L and higher variants are powered by the 130hp, 1.2-litre turbo direct injection petrol unit, which comes paired with an Aisin-sourced 6-speed torque convertor automatic and 6-speed manual gearbox.
