Last week I stood in the middle of my back yard with the stars twinkling in the Texas sky and the wind blowing and the music playing softly in the background surrounded by family and friends and put up my hands and (with my bracelets jingling). and said.
Can we just pause?
Can we take a moment?
I want to remember this. All of this. I want to pause and appreciate and stop for a second so it can all sink in.
And I won’t forget this evening.
And my friends that were there—the ones who know me—paused and then sighed a little. As if to say—we love you KariAnne…
….but do we always have to “take a moment?”
I know.
I know it’s random.
I know it’s a little odd.
But you see—I live in the moment.
Every. Sngle. One.
And sometimes life is speeding and rolling and spinning and swirling and I have to pause…
….or I’ll miss it.
But you see….I live in the moment.
every. single. one.
And sometimes life is speeding and rolling and spinning and swirling….and I have to pause…
….or I’ll miss it.
Like baking cookies with two expert cookie bakers on a stormy Sunday afternoon.
And transforming ready-to-bake cookies into ice skates and wearing monogrammed aprons and eating an extra candy cane or two and interrupting the baking session for a choreographed dance and protecting the cookies from the cookie eaters in the house who jump around the kitchen shooting an imaginary basketball.
Yep.
I don’t want to miss a single minute…..
….of a moment like that. 🙂
How To Make Ice Skate Cookies
from Ready-to-Bake Cookie Dough
(inspired by Pillsbury’s Easy Cookie Recipes)
Ingredients:
ready-to-bake cookie dough
white icing
small candy canes
Step 1: Place piece of cookie dough on baking sheet.
Step 2: Slice a second piece of cookie dough and place next to first (as shown).
Step 3: Pinch two pieces of dough together to form a skate.
Step 4: Bake according to directions and let cool.
Step 5: Apply white icing to cookie and red icing for laces. Attach small candy canes to the base of the skate with icing.
Step 6: Pour a cup of hot chocolate….add mini marshmallows….take a bite of a freshly iced ice skate cookie….and pause….
….just to take a moment. 🙂
Morning my friend! So happy to be partying with you today : ) As always...your treats are absolutely amazing and the presentation...well it is over the top adorable! A very pretty way to start the day and I think that households...all over the world will be serving up a little bit of Hans Christian Anderson cookies this Holiday Season! : ) hugs...
How lucky you are to be able to create with two master bakers and be surrounded by basketball greats. Magical!
Thankful for all of our moments friend! So cute! Wishing you a great day! Take care, Laura
Hope Thistlewood survived Sundays tornados bouncing around western Kentucky. It was a scary day watching them move east toward us. Cookie baking might have helped to calm the nerves! Certainly more productive than pacing the floor window to window.
Miz karianne, you are so precious! Seriously. And I marvel at your insight on the importance of capturing every single joy-filled moment, especially where your family is concerned. I picture your master cookie bakers in another kitchen someday, busily recreating these memories with their own little cookie bakers...... all the while remembering how special that monogramed apron was; how delightful a stormy afternoon could be, dancing to the aroma of freshly baked cookies as basketball hopefuls were shooting at imaginary hoops around them; and then their own special moment as they savored the results of those magical moments....in the kitchen with Mom. Memories like that are more precious than silver or gold. You're awesome!
KariAnne, I love your spirit- and your cookies are cute!
Stinkin' adorable!!! Now I'm hungry... ;}
I love you and I stink at taking moments so I need friends like you. My Thanksgiving resolution..... I shall stop at least once every day and TAKE A MOMENT with Karianne. And I shall see and not forget and I shall rejoice. xoxoxoxoxo C
No, you should always take a moment. Your friends will learn that they should take moments, too! ;o) The skates are adorable! It's always good to make memories. Love the fact that they have monogramed (sp?) aprons. Glad you made it through those storms safely!
"Take a moment".....what a wonderful sentiment. And...if you have to stop and wave your arms...so much the better! May you take many moments...and enjoy them all! ;)
Oh the memories you're making with those girls - and the cookies are adorable, too! Lovely idea, my friend!
My nephews would love these ... so cute!
Girl.. I loved every moment too and you just enjoy those special moments. You can never get em back. Love ya!
A friend who is no longer with us always reminded me to "live in the moment" so I shall always take her advice and "Take time to stop and smell the cookie dough"….cute cookies Kari…so glad they did not meet any disasters from the "invisible basketball"...
Love the cookies Kari..too cute
