The Philadelphia Flyers have placed forward Ryan Johansen on unconditional waivers “due to a material breach,” the team said Tuesday, intending to terminate his contract and erase the $4 million he is owed by the organization for the 2024-25 season. The team can not terminate his contract until he clears unconditional waivers Wednesday.
Johansen, who was acquired just before the trade deadline on March 6 from the Colorado Avalanche as part of the trade for defenseman Sean Walker that gave Philadelphia a first-round pick, did not play any games for the Flyers after the trade.
