Former manager Carlo Ancelotti is suing Everton in London’s high court.
The Italian, 64, was appointed by the club in December 2019 before going on to enjoy an 18-month spell in charge at Goodison Park.
He resigned from his position to return to Real Madrid for a second spell in June 2021.
Ancelotti’s claim was made on Friday, according to court records, and relates to “general commercial contracts and arrangements”.

No further details of the claim were given.
Ancelotti’s legal team are yet to comment while Everton have not responded to The Athletic’s request.
The club are set for a testing summer having only narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League on the final day of the season.
They remain in a difficult financial situation with a number of players expected to leave while owner Farhad Moshiri continues to look for investment to help finance the building of a new stadium.
