TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan experienced a magnitude 5.7 earthquake at 7:24 p.m. on Monday, according to the Central Weather Administration.
The epicenter was located 15.9 kilometers south of Hualien County Hall at a depth of 24.5 kilometers.
The intensity of the quake reached level 4 in Hualien and Nantou counties. Kaohsiung, Taipei, Keelung, Pingtung County, and Penghu County reported intensity level 1.
Taiwan uses an intensity scale of 1 to 7, which gauges the degree to which a quake is felt at a specific location.
