Use voice search to find videos.

Start a voice search
- Sign in to YouTube.
- Tap Search .
- Tap Mic .
- Allow access to the microphone.
- Recording will start immediately.
- Tap to end the recording.
- Tap X to go back or cancel the recording.
Change microphone permissions
- If you have previously denied microphone permissions, you may see a request to allow microphone permissions via your phone settings.
- Click the prompt to go to phone settings, or access Android Settings from your Android phoneâs general menu.
- From Android settings, click Apps and Notifications.
- Find the YouTube app and click YouTube settings.
- Click Permissions.
- Switch the microphone permission to On.
- Go back to the YouTube app, and you should now be able to search with your voice.

These commands are currently available only on Android, and some may not be available in every language.
Song search
You can search YouTube using sound. By humming or recording a song thatâs currently being played, you can find related YouTube videos, Shorts, and official music content.
To start a song search:
- Sign in to YouTube.
- Tap Search .
- Tap Mic .
- Allow access to the microphone.
- Tap Song .
- Recording will start immediately and end once the song is identified.
- Tap X to go back or cancel the recording.
Note: If the song canât be identified, youâll get an error message letting you know a match wasnât found.
Watch/listen to specific content
- Go directly to a random music track or video: âPlay some music.â
- Play a video or music track from a specific artist: âPlay songs from Ariana Grande.â
- Play a video or music track from a specific genre: âPlay heavy metal music.â
- Play a video or music track based on how youâre feeling: âPlay relaxing music.â
- Play a video from your recommended list: âPlay recommended videos.â
Go to a specific page on YouTube
- Go to subscriptions: âShow me my subscriptionsâ, also âWhat's new from my subscriptions?â
- Go to your watch history: âShow my watch history.â
- Go to your library: âShow me my library.â
- Go to a creatorâs recent uploads: âShow me the latest videos from TeamYouTube.â
- Go to related videos based on the current video that youâre watching: âShow related videos.â
- Get lucky with a new video: âWhatâs on YouTube?â
