- This information applies only to personal Google Voice accounts.
- If you have a Google Voice for Google Workspace account managed by your work or school, contact your administrator to port your number.
- If you're a Google Workspace administrator who wants to port your organization's phone numbers, go to Port business numbers to Voice for Google Workspace.
- Minors' accounts can't put a port request on their account.
Transfer your Google Voice number to a different Google Account
You can also move your Google Voice number to another Google Account.
- Only your Google Voice number transfers to the new account.
- Your call history and voicemails donât transfer to the new account.
- You can only transfer your number once every 4 months.
What you can't transfer
You canât transfer:
- As Google Voice is intended for use in the US, number transfer requests must be done while in the US.
- A second Google Voice number to a Google Account that already has a Google Voice number.
- A Google Voice number to a Google Account that hasn't accepted the Google Terms of Service.
- A Google Voice number if you've recently deleted a number and got a new number.
- Tip: Before you can transfer a number, you must wait 90 days.
- A Google Voice number thatâs:
- Unlocked
- Reserved for a voice partner application
- To another Google Voice account that already accepted 3 transfer requests within a 12-month period.
- From a Google Voice account that:
- Has recently deleted a Google Voice phone number.
- Already has a pending number transfer request.
- Has sent out one successful request within a 4-month period.
- Has held the transferring number for less than 3 months.
- Your account information, including your:
- Settings
- Voicemail
- Call history
- Text messages
- Linked numbers
Transfer to another Google Account (ends in @gmail.com)
- On your computer, open Google Voice.
- At the top right, click Settings
Settings.
- Click the Account section.
- In the "Transfer your number to another Voice account" section, click Transfer a number.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Tip: If the transfer request doesnât work, check the list of what you can't transfer.- Another Google Voice account gets your request by email and must accept it within 7 days.
- You can check the number transfer progress in the "Transfer your number to another Voice account" section.
- Before the transfer finishes, to cancel the number transfer request, you can click Cancel the request.
- After the transfer finishes, in the new Google Voice account, add the new number.
If you already tried to transfer your number, but your number doesnât work, create a post on the Google Voice Help Forum. When you post:
- Use the Google Account with your original Google Voice number.
- Only include the last 4 digits of your Google Voice number.
Transfer to an Enterprise account
Consumer Voice users can:
- Select the âTransferâ feature in the settings of the web version of Voice.
- Provide a valid email address thatâs associated with another Google account.
- If the email belongs to a Gmail account, the recipient gets an invitation, which they can accept.
- If the email belongs to a corporate account, the Google Workspace Admin receives a notification to accept the transfer in the admin console or through their email.
To transfer your number:
- On your computer, open Google Voice.
- At the top right, click Settings

- On the left, select Account
Transfer a number.
- Select Get Started.
- Enter the number and email address of the account you want to transfer it to.
- Select Send transfer request
Got it.
- We send you an email that states your organization must accept your request.
- Youâre not allowed to make a transfer.
- You already have an ongoing transfer.
- The destination account doesnât exist.
- Youâve exceeded the transfer quota.
- Your account is too recent to transfer.
- The transferred phone number is reserved for a Voice partner application.
- The transfer phone number is unlocked with Google Voice.
Accept transfer from another account
- If you already have a Google Voice number(s) and want to accept the number transfer, delete all the current Google Voice numbers. Then, in the "Transfer your number to another Voice account" section in "Account Settings," click Accept.
- If you donât have a Google Voice account, register for a Google Voice account and skip the step "Select a Google Voice number."
- If you have multiple number transfer requests, you can accept only one number transfer. Other requests to transfer a number are declined.
