You can set up Google Kids Space on your childâs device to help them discover, create, and grow. Google Kids Space is an Android tablet experience with app, book, and video recommendations that are meant for your childâs age and interests.
What you need
- To set up Google Kids Space, you need a Google Account for your child. You can manage the account with Family Link.
- Google Kids Space only works with supervised Google Accounts for children under the applicable age of consent in their country or region. After your child meets the minimum age requirement, they can decide to manage their own account. Afterwards, your child can't use Google Kids Space.
Google Kids Space comes preinstalled on these tablet manufacturers:
- Lenovo
- Medion
- Multilaser
- Nokia
- onn.
- Pixel
Tip: This list may not include all tablet manufacturers available in your country or region. Other tablets may also come with Google Kids Space pre-installed. To check a device's compatibility, look for the "Comes with Google Kids Space" badge on the device box or website.
Set up Google Kids Space
Check if your device is compatible with Google Kids Space.
- Turn on your device and connect to Wi-Fi.
- When asked who is going to use the device, tap My child.
- If youâve previously set up the tablet, tap Google Kids Space.
- Sign in to your childâs existing Google Account or follow the prompts to create a new Google Account for your child.
- Tap Set up.
- Edit your childâs Google Kids Space settings.
- Choose whether your child is allowed to install recommended apps on Google Kids Space with or without your pre-approval.
- Choose if you want to hide recommended apps with ads.
- Tap Accept.
- After you review the settings and apps installed on the device, work with your child to choose their interests and create a character.
- Tap Done.
Turn on Google Kids Space
From the home screen:
- Tap Google Kids Space .
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
From Settings:
- Go to Settings Digital Wellbeing & parental controls.
- Tap Google Kids Space.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Tip: If you've signed in before and you don't want to keep your previous settings, be sure to uncheck Use previous settings.
Turn off Google Kids Space
- From the home screen in Google Kids Space, touch and hold the Parent menu .
- Tap Exit Kids Space.
- To verify you're the parent, enter your Google Account password.
- Choose whether you want to:
- Review this informational screen
- Require a parent password on future sign-ins
- Tap Turn off.
Tip: If your account remains off for more than 30 days, your child must reselect their setting preferences.
