Energy History can help save energy
Here are a couple of examples of how to use Energy History to help you save energy when you use heating in cool weather. For more ways to save, refer to Explaining Nest thermostat savings article.
Lower your night temperature
Try to turn down the temperature by a couple of degrees during the night. You might not notice any difference since you're asleep.
On this day, your thermostat was set at 68°F from midnight to 7 AM. Each orange bar indicates when the heat came on. |
|
On the next day when your thermostat was set at 64°F for the same time period, the heat came on less frequently to help save energy. |
Change your Eco Temperatures
Set your thermostatâs Eco Temperatures
Note: Energy-efficient Eco Temperatures can help save energy when you set it lower (for heating) and higher (for cooling) than your comfort temperatures. If you set your heating Eco Temperature too high or your cooling Eco Temperature too low to make an impact on your energy savings, an alert may appear in your Home Report.
On this day, the thermostat automatically switched to Eco Temperatures (set to 60°F) shortly after 8 AM. |
|
The next day, after you change the Eco Temperature heating setting to 53°F, notice how the heat didnât come on at all during the same period. A lower heating setting, or higher cooling setting for Eco Temperatures can help reduce your energy use. |
