It can be challenging to find people interested in products or brands like yours. If you have used Google audiences then you may be familiar with custom affinity and custom intent audiences, which help you reach people based on their passions or topics theyâre actively researching. By building audiences based on relevant keywords and websites, you can deliver more relevant ads to better achieve your goals.
Last year, we announced that we would bring custom affinity and custom intent audiences into one simplified solution, custom audiences. Today, these are available for all advertisers across Display, YouTube and Discovery campaigns.
Increasing transparency for personalized advertising
While we know people prefer ads that are personalized to their needs and interests, we also know they expect these ads to offer transparency and control. Tools like Ad Settings allow users to easily update how their ads are personalized, or opt out of ads personalization altogether. Weâre working on new ways to raise the bar on transparency, choice and control, providing even greater visibility into what data is used for ads personalization and by whom.
Read our personalized advertising policy to learn more about our standards for what data may be collected as well as which interest categories we do not permit advertisers to use on our platforms.
Getting started with custom audiences
With custom audiences you can use a single audience for any business goal youâre driving toward, whether thatâs awareness, consideration or conversions.
If youâve previously set up custom intent or custom affinity audiences, these will automatically be migrated into custom audiences with no additional set-up needed.
As you build your custom audience youâll see estimated reach, and once itâs created you can use it across your Display, Discovery and YouTube campaigns.
We know that coming up with an audience strategy is hard work, and we want to make sure that work pays off for you by reaching more people at scale. Learn more about custom audiences in the Google Ads Help Center.
