If your Chromebook has a touchscreen turned on, you can use your fingers to edit text.
Actions you can take
- Move the cursor: Tap the cursor and drag it to where you want it on the text.
- Open action menu: To open the action menu that gives you the option to âSelect,â âSelect all,â and âPaste,â double tap the word to show the action menu.
- To select one word: On an editable document, double tap the word you want to select.
- Select multiple words: On an editable document, double tap the first word and then drag the cursor across the text until all desired words are selected.
Tips:
- To focus on the text, move the cursor or drag your finger across it, and the magnifier opens.
- To select a word, swipe your finger across it. To deselect a character, swipe in the opposite direction.
- To open the action menu, you can also press and hold the word aside from double tapping.
- In addition to double tap, you can also press and hold a word instead of double tapping. Both methods would work.
- Due to Google Docsâ customized user experience, these tap editing interactions donât work on Docs.
