When you create a family group, you become the family manager. You can create a family group with up to 6 people. Some activities in Google products, like creating a child account or setting up a family library on Google Play, will automatically create a family group for you. To find if you have a family group already, go to g.co/yourfamily.
Create a family group
- Sign in to your Google Account.
- Go to g.co/yourfamily.
- Select Create a family group Get started.
- Under âReady to be a family manager?,â select Confirm.
- Enter the names of family members you want to invite to your Google family group.
- Select Send.
Important: A family group is different from a Google Home group, which helps you manage your home and devices in the Google Home app. You can add someone as both a family member and a home member. Learn how to share a home and devices in the Google Home app.

To create and manage a family group with a speaker or Smart Display:
- Get the Google Assistant app.
- Set up Voice Match.
Create a family group
You can create a family from your speaker, Smart Display, or mobile device with Google Assistant.
- Say, âHey Google, set up my family.â
- If you ask on a speaker, you get a notification from Google Assistant on your mobile device. Tap that notification.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.

Manage your family members
You can manage your family members from your speaker, Smart Display, or mobile device with Google Assistant.

- Say âHey Google, whoâs in my family?â
- When you ask on a speaker, you get a notification from Google Assistant on your mobile device. Tap that notification.
In the Google Assistant app
- On your Pixel phone, open the Settings app .
- Tap You Your people.
- If someone is in your family on Google, below their name, youâll find âFamily group.â
With a speaker or Smart Display
- Say âHey Google, add a family member.â
- When you ask on a speaker, you get a notification from Google Assistant on your mobile device. Tap that notification.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
In the Google Assistant app
- On your Pixel phone, open the Settings app .
- Tap You Your people Add person.
- Choose the contact you want to add.
- Turn on Family group.
- Confirm their email address and tap Use this email Save.
With a speaker or Smart Display
- Say âHey Google, remove a family member.â
- On your Android phone or tablet, you get a notification from Google Assistant. Tap that notification.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
In the Google Assistant app
- On your Pixel phone, open the Settings app .
- Tap You Your people.
- Tap the name of the family member you want to remove.
- Turn off Family group.
- At the bottom right, tap Save.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
The person you remove from your family group:
- Keeps their Google Account and any content on their device purchased with the family payment method.
- Can't make new purchases with the family payment method, or access any services your family group shares.
- Gets an email alert when they're removed.
- Loses access to anything in your Family Library.
- Loses access to your shared storage if your family shares a Google One membership.
- If theyâre out of storage, their files stay safe but they canât store new things. Learn what happens when they run out of space.
- Loses access to extra member benefits and Google experts.
If the person you remove:
- Made a purchase with the family payment method and itâs already in process: You're still charged, but you can request a refund for unwanted or accidental purchases.
- Added content to the Family Library: If you set up a Google Play Family Library, any content they added is removed and other family members lose access to that content.
To remove a supervised child from the family group:
- You must delete their Google Account if they are under 13 (or the applicable age in your country) and you created the Google Account for them.
- You must remove their account if you created their Google Account when they were under 13 (or the applicable age in your country) and you have provided consent for their continued use of their Google Account.

- Go to Your family on Google.
- Tap Menu Delete family group.
In the Google Assistant app
- On your Pixel phone, open the Settings app .
- Tap You Your people.
- Below âYour family on Google,â tap families.google.com.
- At the top right, tap Menu Delete family group.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Adults in your family group keep their Google Accounts and any content on their device they purchased with the family payment method.
- If your family members made a purchase with the family payment method and it's already in process, you'll still be charged, but you can request a refund for unwanted or accidental purchases.
- If you set up Google Play Family Library, everyone from your family group loses access to the Family Library content that other family members added.
- If you subscribed to a family plan like YouTube Music or Google One, your family loses access to that service.
- If your family shares a Google One membership, your family loses access to the shared storage.
- If your family members run out of storage, their files stay safe but they can't store new things. Learn what happens when they run out of space.
- Everyone from your family loses access to extra member benefits and Google experts.
- If a family member is 13 (or the applicable age in your country) or older, and you choose to manage their account with Family Link, their Google Account and any devices are no longer supervised when you remove them from the family group.
- If you delete your family group, you can only create or join another family group once in the next 12 months.
