Replace and remove your carrier email

After November 2019, if you use a carrier email for 2-step verification, you won't be able to receive verification codes until you update to a standard phone number.

Step 1: Add a supported verification method

Important: If you don’t add a supported 2-step verification method, you may be locked out of your account.

  1. Go to your Google Account.
  2. On the left navigation panel, select Security.
  3. In the “How you sign in to Google” section, select 2-Step Verification.
  4. Enter your password.
    • On a device that is new or doesn’t remember you, use your second factor as well.
  5. In the “Set up alternative second step” section, select one of the supported options.
  6. Follow the steps provided.
