When you use Family Link to manage your childâs Google Account, you can let your child sign in to some Google websites, like Gmail, using a web browser.
Important: If you get the "Can't access this service" error, this means the Google service is unavailable for Google Workspace for Education users who are under 18 and for children under 13 (or the age of consent in your country).
Most Family Link supervision settings wonât work
When your child is signed in to Google websites on a web browser, these settings wonât work:
- Screen time limits
- Device location
- App activity
- Blocking apps & app permissions
- Google Chrome website and permission restrictions
Note: For greater supervision of your childâs device and online activity, sign your child in on an Android device or Chromebook.
Sign your child in
With your permission, your child can sign in to some Google websites using a web browser, and theyâll be able to search the internet and visit websites.
- On the device your child wants to use, open a web browser.
- Go to the Google sign-in page or sign in to a Google website like Gmail.
- Your child enters their Google Account email address and password.
- Follow the instructions to finish signing your child in. You may need to enter your own Google Account password to give permission.
If your child signs out of Google websites, they may need your permission to sign in again.
With the Family Link app
- Open the Family Link app .
- Select your child.
- Tap Controls Account settings Controls for signing in.
- Choose your preference:
- Yes, ask me every time
- No, let [name] sign in without me
Tip: You can also manage your childâs account when you select your childâs name at g.co/yourfamily.
