Naboo has had various monarchs, with Padmé Amidala perhaps the most famous. Ruling this world of splendor and beauty toward the end of the Clone Wars was Queen Apailana, democratically-elected by her subjects. She faced a serious challenge of unity and moral purpose after the Galactic Empire began asserting itself, and was also a very public mourner of Amidala at the senator's funeral.
