- "The Chief Virologist is....well, was...Dr. Giffax Jin."
- ―Klex Fulgor, to a spacer
Doctor Griffax Jin was a virologist who lived during the time of the Galactic Civil War.
Biography[]
- "I've been sent by Vader to collect the sample."
"It is too dangerous. So many lives lost...only to come back. I'm (Cough) not going to let you have it! Oh no....noooo....Ack!" - ―A spacer and Dr. Griffax Jin, right before the latter became an undead
Following the Battle of Yavin, Jin conducted operations as part of the Galactic Empire's science staff in the Imperial Research and Prison Facility on the planet Dathomir. There, scientists were secretly conducting dangerous scientific research for the Empire, intending to re-engineer the dreadful Blackwing virus into a bioweapon. Dr. Jin operated in the cryogenics laboratory of the on level 2 of the research center and served as the chief virologist.[3] In 1 ABY,[1] Griffax Jin was present when an accident took place in the Imperial Research and Prison Facility and the virus escaped containment. The virus killed most of the people in the area, turning them into undead creatures. Dr. Jin survived the outbreak but was infected by the virus. A group of spacers later found Griffax Jin in his lab during their search for an original sample if the virus. They interrogated Jin but the scientist was not eager to help them, considering that the virus should be destroyed, along with the research facility. However, Griffax Jin finally turned into a zombie and attacked the spacer who were forced to defend themselves, killing the undead scientist. The spacer eventually found the virus they were looking for in Dr. Jin's lab.[2]

Notes and references[]
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
