Byss was a planet located within the galaxy's Deep Core with a Standard Galactic Grid coordinate of K-11.
History[]
Only discovered late during the Old Republic, it was the endpoint of the Byss Run hyperspace route after Prakith. An unusual world with an uncanny glow caused by its sun, it was considered extremely important by Emperor Palpatine.[2]
While much of his work was based on the planet Coruscant, capital of the Galactic Empire[3][4] Grand Vizier Mas Amedda did, at one point, retreat to the Byss, where he drew up plans for the New Order.[5]
Behind the scenes[]
Byss was first created for the Star Wars: Dark Empire series of Star Wars Legends comic books, and first appeared in Dark Empire 2, which was written by Tom Veitch and released on February 18, 1992.[6] The world was confirmed to exist in canon when it first appeared on a galactic map included with Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon 36, a magazine released by De Agostini in 2015.[2]
