Operation Ringbreaker was a failed Rebel Alliance campaign against the Kuat Drive Yards, the primary producer and servicer of the Galactic Empire's Star Destroyers, that took place in 3 ABY during the Galactic Civil War. Formulated by the ex-Imperial Governor Everi Chalis, the campaign, named after the orbital ring structure of the Kuat Drive Yards, involved a succession of attacks on weaker Imperial targets in order to force redeployments from the planet Kuat's security, weakening the shipyards for a final attack.
Operation Ringbreaker was proposed to and conducted by the Alliance unit that Chalis had defected to, the 61st Mobile Infantry, better known as Twilight Company. Agreeing to the campaign, the company fought the Empire across a number of locations as part of the operation, including the planet Mardona III, the gas giant Najan-Rovi, the moon Obumubo, the agriworld Nakadia, the planet Naator, the astronomical object Xagobah, and the Kuliquo belt asteroid field.
Meanwhile, the Imperial Prelate Verge and Captain Tabor Seitaron tracked Twilight Company's attacks and began predicting the company's next move in order to intercept them and capture Chalis, secreting TIE/IN interceptor squadrons near three locations. Twilight Company indeed arrived at one of them, the volcanic planet Sullust. After the company captured the mineral processing facility on Sullust, the interceptors of Vixus Squadron ambushed and shot down their troop carrier, the Thunderstrike, and stranded the ground forces.
Twilight Company dug in at the Inyusu Tor facility and their acting leader, Hazram Namir, led a mission down to Sullust's capital, Pinyumb, to find the Sullustan resistance rebel cell. While split from his team, Namir witnessed firsthand how Twilight Company's attack had made the Empire subjugate Pinyumb and made a new plan with the Sullustan resistance members to fight for Sullust. Returning to his company, Namir ended Operation Ringbreaker, much to Chalis's displeasure, and Twilight Company instead fought Imperial reinforcements at Inyusu Tor. (Read more…)
