Plot
[change | change source]Domenico Di Napoli is a 40-year-old Italian American-his parents emigrated from the South-unmarried and overweight. He lives with a brother in a duplex apartment occupied on the ground floor by his brother-in-law and his sister Antonietta, with whom he runs a stationery shop. Deeply affected by the death of his cousin Sal due to similar obesity problems, and urged by Antoinette, he goes to a dietician for treatment. Difficulties in complying with the weight-loss treatment are compounded by amorous inhibitions toward the Polish Lydia, owner of an antique store.
