Aleksis Kivi

Aleksis Kivi , born Alexis Stenvall, (10 October 1834 – 31 December 1872) was a Finnish writer. He wrote plays and poems and the first significant novel in the Finnish language, Seven Brothers (Finnish title: Seitsemän veljestä). He is considered one of the greatest authors in Finland.[1]
Kivi was born in Nurmijärvi.[2] He lived in time when all educated people in Finland spoke Swedish. He was the first professional writer who published his works in Finnish.[3] Kivi, Mikael Agricola and Elias Lönnrot are regarded fathers of a national literature in Finnish.[1]
