WITH THE FAMILY
Families with kids aged six and up can head to downtown Moline on Saturday to test out their creative side. Dead Poet's Espresso, the coffee shop located at 525 3rd Ave., is hosting a "Family Paint Party" through Create! QC Paint Nite this weekend. There's no experience needed. The event host will guide you through your painting each step of the way.
While you paint, grab a coffee, too. The subject of the painting on Saturday will be a frosted rose. The event starts at 1 p.m. and will run until 3 p.m. Entry starts $39, and tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite, where they're running out fast.

It's Oscars week, and movies like "Oppenheimer" and "Barbie" are up for the biggest trophies in film. What better place to watch the show unfold than our mini-Hollywood on Motor Row?

The Last Picture House is hosting an awards party on Sunday. The ceremony starts at 6 p.m. with a red carpet photo op at 5 p.m. A "golden ticket" for admission is $30 per person and gets you a seat in the theater, two complimentary drink tickets and a free popcorn.
There will also be raffle giveaways and ballot competitions, in case you and your significant other want to duke it out to see who knows their movies the best. Tickets can be grabbed at The Last Picture House's website, www.lastpicturehouse.com.
DINE & DRINK
Think you know a song or two? Turn that knowledge into free drinks at The Tangled Wood on Wednesday.
The bar and grill in Bettendorf hosts Music Bingo in coordination with Think & Drink Entertainment every Wednesday. It starts at 7 p.m. and goes until 9 p.m. and is free to participate.
So how does it work? The DJs at The Tangled Wood will cycle through songs, and each person will have their own bingo board. If you recognize the tune, mark the song on your bingo board. First to get a bingo wins a free drink ticket for The Tangled Wood bar, and then everyone resets and tries again.
No cheating! The Tangled Wood is located at 3636 Tanglewood Rd in Bettendorf.
JUST FOR FUN
A local legend's birthday is fast approaching. Bix Beiderbecke, the jazz great, was born this month 125 years ago, and the Bix Beiderbecke Museum & Archives is hosting a party to celebrate. In conjunction with East Moline's Catfish Jazz Society, the museum is hosting a concert on Sunday, starting at 2 p.m. at the Viking Club in Moline.
Tickets start at $25. A $50 VIP ticket gets you a free meal, reserved seating and a meet-and-greet with the performing band, Josh Duffee's Graystone Monarchs.
Don Murray's old tenor saxophone will be played by the Monarchs, the instrument's first time being used in more than 90 years. Murray was a friend and collaborator of Bix's, and their first albums together are celebrating a 100th anniversary this year.

IN REAL TIME
If you love all things craft fair, don't forget to stop by at the Fair Center this weekend. They'll be open on Saturday and Sunday for a craft and vendor fair, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
Local musician Angela Meyer will provide live music on Saturday, with Tessa performing on Sunday. Both concerts will start at 11 a.m. Entry is free and there will be over 100 vendors.
