Porch connects homeowners with home professionals to get their home projects done. Porch offers tools and resources, including advice, reviews and project pages, to help homeowners manage each home project from start to finish.
We want you to have a fantastic home improvement experience. Please take a moment to review our tips to help keep your project on track:
- Confirm whether licensing is required in your area for the work requested. Our license verification tools can help you validate professional licensing.
- Ask for proof of insurance and bonding so you’re covered in case of damage. Confirm your homeowner’s insurance requirements to see if you’re covered in the event something goes awry.
- Request local referrals and see other work in person. Research other online review sites.
- Get a written, itemized contract and sign off on scope changes throughout the project. Be wary if you’re asked to put down a large cash deposit before a contract is signed and you haven’t vetted the professional.
- Always go with your instincts. If something feels off, do not proceed. For more tips about hiring a professional, see our advice section here.
After submitting your project, the details are shared with professionals who provide the service you requested. Pros will connect with you by phone, text, or email to discuss project details, pricing, and schedule. Your project page on Porch is where you can track the conversations, update the project status, and review the professional you hire.
There is no cost for homeowners to use Porch.
Don’t worry about updating your project once you’ve submitted it. You can work through all the information with the professional once you begin communicating and let them know if anything’s changed.
Many professionals have opted-in to communicating on the Porch messaging platform. You can either send them a message using the chat feature on your project page or call the professional. Others will only be accessible after contacting you first.
Within your project page, select the pro’s name from the Conversations list and you will now see a review button on the right side of your screen. Click ‘Review’.
See a professional on your project page that doesn’t quite fit your needs? By clicking the “X” next to the pro's name, you can remove the professional from your project and they will no longer have access to your project details.
Visit your Project page and update the status on the upper right corner of the page.
Porch professionals are independent contractors and each sets their own pricing, schedule, and other business policies. Each professional is responsible for maintaining their licensing, bonding, and insurance and we ask each homeowner to verify this information prior to hiring a professional.
Porch actively manages the quality of our network and encourage you to leave a review of all of your experiences with professionals.
This PIN is a security feature to protect your privacy in the case that you’d like to stop communicating with a professional. Each connection with a professional features a unique PIN. If you call from a phone number other than the one you used to set up the project, you will be asked to enter the PIN to proceed with the call. You can find this pin in your Project page. After clicking on the pro’s name from the Conversations list, the PIN will appear on the right hand column.
The Porch Guarantee gives you peace of mind for all of your home improvement projects requested through Porch or a qualifying Porch partner. If property damage occurs as a direct result of the professional’s work on your original Porch project, or if a professional takes your deposit and does not complete any work, we will assist you in the process of resolving the issue with the professional and recouping your loss. In addition, Porch will provide you with up to $1,000 to help offset any loss (for example, meeting your home insurance deductible, replacing or repairing damaged items or paying for legal fees if you pursue the professional in court).
The Porch Guarantee does not cover quality of work issues, loss of materials, tools or property used on the job, project delays, payment disputes, projects where the scope of work has changed, or projects that were not requested through Porch. Conditions apply. Please review the complete Guarantee Terms & Conditions for details.
In the event you believe you are eligible for a claim, contact [email protected].
