Mercury Retrograde in Sagittarius Will Have These Zodiac Signs Revisiting the Past

Another retrograde is upon us!

Mercury will retrograde in Sagittarius from Nov. 25 to Dec. 15, a period of time where the planet appears to be moving backward in the sky and astrologically boasts massive significance in the cosmos.

According to astrologer Kyle Thomas, Mercury turns retrograde "more often" than any other planet, typically three to four times per year, and lasts several weeks. Themes ruled by this planet — travel, business, media endeavors, legalities and academics — tend to "go awry" during this time.

The same occurs for themes ruled by the zodiac sign in which it's retrograding — this time, Sagittarius. Thomas notes that Mercury is "weakened" when it is in this sign, resulting in "especially noticeable" effects.

Despite the retrograde simply being an "optical illusion from our vantage point on Earth (and the planets don't literally move backward), Thomas makes known that the event has "mysterious and powerful" effects regardless.

"We tend to revisit the past and have people, events and unresolved situations from before return to present themselves for closure or to begin anew," he explains. "When retrogrades occur, we must review, revisit and reflect."

Aries (March 21 to April 19)

Tread carefully, Aries. "You won’t be seeing eye-to-eye with others," says Thomas.

"Initially you’ll be having frustrations around academics, media endeavors or legalities," he explains. "Something difficult is afoot." He adds, "You may also be encountering challenges around how you are seeking expansion, new horizons or growth. Travel could also see a corkscrew."

Taurus (April 20 to May 20)

Take note of your relationships now, Taurus. "This Mercury retrograde phase stirs the pot on all levels within partnership," says Thomas.

"You’ll be feeling a significant connection is not balanced," he puts forth. "You could be having trust or sharing issues. This may instead bring frustration to assets or investments."

Gemini (May 21 to June 20)

You may be in your head, Gemini. "Mercury retrograde will bring confusion and miscommunication to your partnerships and relationships, Thomas says.

"This may bring friction or cause you to wonder why you’re not on the same page," he explains. "It may even bring back an old partner in business or love to you. If you’d like to reconnect with someone, use the time now."

Cancer (June 21 to July 22)

Take a step back, Cancer, and reevaluate. "The upcoming Mercury retrograde will bring headaches around work and employment matters," Thomas puts forth.

"You may sense confusion with coworkers or around projects and responsibilities," he says. "Someone may quit, causing all sorts of matters to spin off the rails." He adds, "If you’d like to reconnect with an old employer, do so now."

Leo (July 23 to Aug. 22)

Of all the zodiac signs, Leo, Thomas says you could enjoy the upcoming retrograde a bit more than others. However, he says "you’ll be seeing all sorts of confusion" around a few themes too.

Among them include "dating, passions, creativity or children." If casually meeting new people, he says you may "suddenly find yourself ghosted" or that "your lover is having second thoughts." He adds, "An ex, old hookup or old flame could even cross your path."

If you’d like to reconnect with someone, Thomas says "to do so" during this time.

Virgo (Aug. 23 to Sept. 22)

Your planetary ruler is mixing things up, Virgo! "This could cause a bit of extra turmoil for you," Thomas says.

This Mercury retrograde "will bring confusion" to your home, family, real estate and domestic matters," he notes. If you’ve been in the process of a move or renovation, he predicts "delays and frustrations" may arise.

"You’ll recover quicker than the other zodiac signs if you slow down and breathe," he advises.

Libra (Sept. 23 to Oct. 22)

Plan wisely, Libra. The Mercury retrograde will cause "confusion" around your ideas, opinions and plans, says Thomas.

"This is especially true if you’ve been working on an important writing, speaking, advertising or branding initiative," he explains. "It may also cause hurdles around travel or contracts, too, so use this time to review and revise."

Scorpio (Oct. 23 to Nov. 21)

Yikes, Scorpio! "This Mercury retrograde will cause plenty of delays, frustrations and drama around your income and finances," predicts Thomas.

"This will bring quite the anxiety," he adds. "Be sure to triple-check all of your expenses and transactions."

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 to Dec. 21)

Mercury retrograde is happening in your zodiac sign, Sagittarius. "Beware!" warns Thomas.

"This will cause challenges and hurdles to pop up in regards to every project, plan or desire you set your mind upon," he says. "You’ll feel like you’re banging your head again against a wall — so rather than fighting the current, take a moment to unplug and just go relax."

Thomas adds, "Nothing will proceed now, so it is best to chill."

Capricorn (Dec. 22 to Jan. 19)

Go with the flow, Capricorn. "You may feel like your anxiety, frustration and insecurity are all over the place during this Mercury retrograde phase," says Thomas.

"You could be obsessing over closure or baggage — while secrets, hidden enemies and unresolved situations may haunt you," he puts forth. "Do your best to make peace with the past."

Aquarius (Jan. 20 to Feb. 18)

Luckily, Aquarius, Thomas says "the stars are on your side" this season despite the retrograde bringing "mischief to your friendships, social life and network."

"Miscommunication" and "drama" may occur with people that you know, he puts forth, though notes that "old friends and flames may return to you during this time." He adds, "If you’d like to reunite with anyone, do so at this time."

Pisces (Feb. 19 to March 20)

Your hands are full, Pisces! "You may feel like you’re tackling a million things and still can’t get everything done," Thomas acknowledges.

"Finding the most productive and efficient means to achieve your goals is key now," he says. "This is an excellent period to polish off big projects or find a better job, too."
