One of the Trichinella genus of parasitic nematodes, the causative agents of trichinosis (also known as trichinellosis). Trichinella nelsoni is found eastern Africa and infects predators and scavengers.

The genome of T. nelsoni was produced by the Gasser laboratory at the University of Melbourne, as part of the assembly and analysis of all 12 recognized Trichinella species (described in Korhonen et al (2016)).
