Sophie Becker-Klein is thrilled to be joining Audubon Mid-Atlantic as the FAO Schwarz Fellow! She recently graduated from American University with a B.S. in Environmental Science and a minor in Education. The FAO Schwarz Fellowship gives recent college graduates the opportunity to learn about and get involved in the non-profit sector through direct service and special projects. Throughout her two-year fellowship, Sophie is focusing on creating and implementing lessons about birds, habitat, migration, watersheds, and climate at local elementary schools in their classrooms.
Sophie is particularly interested in giving every student the opportunity to learn about the world they live in through environmental education and hopes to help students learn about real change they can make as a way to dispel climate anxieties. As a new birder, she is excited to spend her free time identifying birds on her hikes with her dog, Blue.
