We are excited to announce that the OpenSSF is hosting Security of Open Source Software (SOSS) Community Day Japan 2024, scheduled for Wednesday, October 30, 2024. This one-day event will take place in Tokyo, Japan, and the call for proposals (CFP) is now open. CFP deadline:  Sunday, August 25, 2024.

SOSS Community Day Japan 2024 will offer a day of insightful discussions, presentations, and networking opportunities focused on the security challenges and innovations within the open source ecosystem. We aim to gather experts, practitioners, and enthusiasts to delve into critical topics such as security education, open source tooling, vulnerabilities, and emerging threats.

Call for Proposals

Whether you’re part of a team or working solo, if you’re passionate about open source security, we invite you to submit your presentation proposals for SOSS Community Day Japan 2024. We welcome submissions showcasing groundbreaking research, practical insights, or notable success stories in enhancing open source software security. Our Call for Proposals will be open until Sunday, August 25, 2024, at 12:00 AM PDT (UTC-7) / 16:00 JST (UTC+9). Topics of interest include:

  • Open Source Security Tooling & Innovation
  • Open Source Vulnerabilities & Threats
  • Security Research
  • AI & Open Source Security

  • 5-minute Presentation
  • 10-minute Presentation
  • 15-minute Presentation
  • 20-minute Extended Presentation

Tabletop Exercise (TTX)

As part of SOSS Community Day Japan, OpenSSF will host a Tabletop Exercise (TTX) aimed at enhancing incident response capabilities. This session will:

  • Provide a comprehensive TTX framework for maintainers and contributors to improve security posture.
  • Offer educational content for developers to understand security practices.
  • Demonstrate the practical use of OpenSSF technologies in real-world scenarios.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and explore new technologies to enhance incident response.
