The Flashy Flickers Magic Picture Gun was introduced in 1965 by the Louis Marx Toy Company, and looked like a futuristic blue ray-gun. It was in fact a battery-powered portable projector for children that used filmstrips. The filmstrip was advanced to the next picture in the story by pulling the trigger, and the gun could project the image onto a surface.
Various filmstrips (in ‘Magic Marx-A-Colour’) were packaged with the gun, and more were available separately containing stories involving popular comic book characters such as Aquaman, Wonder Woman and Batman. Each separate box contained three filmstrips.
Although the filmstrip looks like 35mm film, it is incompatible and has a different sprocket design.
