The Stereoclic was a device for viewing 3D photographs on Kodachrome colour slide film, similar in concept to the View-Master. Bruguière had been manufacturing 3D viewers in France since the late 1940s, but initially these only viewed one pair of stereo images whereas the Stereoclic system held eight pairs on a piece of card that was fed into the viewer and advanced by moving a lever.
The Stereoclic system was very similar to the Lestrade system, also made in France, but the cards were not interchangeable and the Stereoclic cards only had one advance sprocket hole between the images as opposed to the Lestrade’s two.
Two different type of Stereoclic cards were made, with the earlier ones having narrower images. Both types of card worked in all Stereoclic viewers.
