If you’re like us, you’ve probably wondered what famous people add to their carts. Not the JAR brooch and Louis XV chair but the hair spray and the electric toothbrush. We asked tennis player and former U.S. Open champion Sloane Stephens about her go-to water bottle, the fragrance she wears even while rocking sweats, and the packing cubes that keep her organized while traveling over 40 weeks per year.
I’m sweating and training in the sun every day, so I like to physically scrub. It makes me feel the cleanest before bed. I often pair body gloves with an exfoliating scrub to really double up on the effect.
Sunscreen should be a daily requirement for everyone, but especially when you’re outside as much as I am. This one’s my favorite: It doesn’t sweat into my eyes or loosen my grip on the racquet. And it’s a drugstore buy, so it’s easy to find no matter where I am in the U.S. When I’m competing in Europe for months at a time, I always ask my visiting family and friends to replenish my supply. I go through at least one can a week!
I think I became a micro-influencer at the Equinox in Boston when I started carrying this bottle around last winter. It’s a great way to stay accountable and hit my daily hydration goals. I admittedly need to work on my water intake, so this was a really obvious way to see how I’m doing each day. It’s a great motivator, too, because the bottle gets incrementally lighter to carry around as you hit the hydration markers.
If you’re on a Zoom with me and my camera is off, odds are I’m wearing these. I just love the feel of an eye patch, especially if you keep them in the fridge. They help reduce puffiness so I can look like I didn’t just play a night match or have a super-delayed flight the night before. I have a drawer full of different eye-mask options, but I find myself coming back to these.
I love Lemon Perfect so much that I invested in it. It’s a healthy way to hydrate and the flavors keep the routine interesting. I love the Original Lemon and my husband, Jozy, likes the Dragon Fruit Mango. It’s my go-to drink for before practice — and pretty much any other time of the day. I first tried Lemon Perfect during a business meeting — they had it as one of the beverage options in that office. After the meeting, I cold-emailed the CEO, Yanni, because I wanted to learn more about what they were doing. Now they’re growing like crazy, and I’m so proud to support their journey. They also just became certified plastic neutral, which is a great sustainability milestone for the brand.
My eyes get strained from squinting in the sun, dry airplane air, and looking at screens, so I love to heat up an eye compress before bed to help them recover. My eye doctor recommended these compresses, and when I use them, I really do notice a difference. Because the compress covers your eyes, it also serves as a really nice mandatory phone break and time to just rest and center myself at the end of a busy day.
I love this perfume. It is definitely pricey (I keep track of every spritz), but I’ve tried all the dupes and nothing comes close to the original. I think I bought it for the first time at an airport duty-free after sampling it while waiting for a flight, and my husband has gifted it to me a few times since. Even if I’m on-site at a tournament and doing media in sweats, putting on some nice perfume just elevates the whole vibe.
It’s important to replenish electrolytes when you sweat as much as I do. I actually twist open the capsule to get the salt directly in my mouth. Doing it that way helps me get the salt faster and helps me feel better after a hard practice or during a match. I’m usually pretty good at monitoring my supply, but having them on Amazon Prime is super convenient.
I love to travel with a candle. It’s a simple way to elevate the hotel-room experience and bring a little bit of familiarity and home to every stop on tour. It’s a very warm and luxurious scent that fills the room, and the name just makes me stand a little taller. I switch up my candles, but find myself coming back to this one.
I live my life out of a suitcase, so staying hyperorganized is critical. I love to plan my outfits out and make sure I have full matching looks, so arranging everything into packing cubes keeps me sane and cute. The compression is key to helping me squeeze in that one additional outfit because you just never know what occasions might spring up.
