Question: On the newest season of The Great British Baking Show, the lovely and charming French baker Manon wears this killer lipstick shade that I want for myself: It’s a red-pink hybrid, like some sort of tropical Hawaiian Punch situation. I think it’d be nice to mix it into my red lipstick rotation! A red lip that isn’t just a red lip. Can you help me find it?
Manon Lagrève, a French software project manager based in London, was an early favorite this past season on The Great British Baking Show (she earned the title of Star Baker her very first week), so it was a shocker when judges booted her from the show in the quarterfinals, right before Patisserie Week (her specialty). Fans were disappointed, but there was a certain lipstick she wore on her final episode that some viewers are still trying to find.
To find out what it was, we went straight to the source via Lagrève’s Instagram, and she responded within the hour. She ID’ed the lipstick in question as a MAC shade, a watermelon matte called All Fired Up. Online, those who wear it describe the color as a flattering fuchsia that instantly brightens up the face.
When she’s not wearing that bright pink color, you’re also likely to spot her on other episodes wearing MAC’s Ruby Woo (a classic blue-red shade, and the most famous MAC lipstick color of them all) or a rosy long-wear lipstick from Chanel, both of which she’s worn on Baking Show before. Together, she describes these as her “trio of shock.”
And they’re very long-lasting, even in high heat, according to Lagrève: “What I love about these three is that they stay forever, which was the best in the heat as I didn’t have to touch it at all through the day. I didn’t even use any lip pencil either, just the lipsticks.”
When we shared the answer with our fan, she had a follow-up question: “I know from watching every episode of every season that the tent can get quite hot, but Manon never looked sweaty or shiny. Are there any favorite beauty products of hers that she depends on in order to not melt in hot weather/around ovens?”
We circled back with Lagrève, who shared her favorite things for staying shine-proof: La Roche-Posay sunscreens (a pharmacy staple back in France)…
… as well as this finishing powder from Makeup Forever that she “lived by in the tent to avoid looking like a hot mess.” It’s meant to be used on top of foundation to blur over any lingering imperfections, minimize your pores, and seep up any shine, so it’s perfect for the avid cook or baker.
