Amazon’s Kindle Paperwhite has been one of my favorite e-readers for nearly a decade, and with good reason. Its screen makes text look almost as good as on paper, its front-lit display has an adjustable temperature that can remove blue light from the screen to reduce its harshness in dim environments, and its weeks-long battery life gives you plenty of time to work your way through a few books. But you’ll want your e-reader to stay in good shape for the long haul, so I recommend getting a case to avoid scratching up the screen or otherwise damaging the device when you carry it with you. Usually Amazon’s fabric cover would cost you an extra $35, but right now you can get a bundle that includes both the Kindle Paperwhite (with ads removed, which usually costs $20) and the cover for 32 percent off, making it the same price as the ad-free Paperwhite by itself. You can pocket that cash and save it for later, or use it to grab yourself an e-book or audiobook. For $15 less, you can get the bundle with the Paperwhite with ads, but you won’t be able to see the covers of your e-books when your Kindle’s asleep.
