“Iron Chef” Masaharu Morimoto is expanding his popular ramen restaurant to Brooklyn.

The TV chef behind Momosan Ramen & Sake in Midtown, considered to be one of the city’s top spots for a bowl of ramen, is opening a second outpost in Park Slope next year. An exact opening date hasn’t been set, but the chef has already secured a lease at 76 St. Marks Ave., between Flatbush and Sixth avenues.

The new ramen and yakitori restaurant will include a 2,200-square-foot dining room plus a 2,000-square-foot test kitchen in the basement. Similar to his first outpost in Midtown, the new location will serve food that reminds the chef of his childhood in Hiroshima.

Though the menu will be centered on ramen, grilled dishes and bar snacks will also be available. Japanese comfort food such as pork gyoza, fried pig ears, soft shell crab bao, duck tacos, and skewered and grilled yakitori are expected. Noodle dishes will range from tonkotsu to chicken ramen.

Drinks will revolve around beer, both Japanese and local, as well as sake, including the chef’s recently released signature sake, Easy Cup Sake.

Morimoto first opened Momosan Ramen & Sake in Midtown in 2016. He says the demand at that shop propelled the second NYC location, which will actually be his fourth outpost overall by the time it opens. Last year, he opened one in Honolulu and has plans to open a third in Seattle this year. This will be the chef’s 18th restaurant, with several of locations of his fine dining sushi restaurant Morimoto around the world.

Momosan Ramen & Sake will open in 2020. Stay tuned.

At Momosan, noodles are front and center. Whether indulging in a bowl of signature tonkotsu ramen, tokyo chicken ramen, tantan, or tsukemen, you’ll realize it is quality you can only find dining with an Iron Chef.
