The Center for Materials Research (CMR) at the Naval Postgraduate School was established in 2010 as a multidisciplinary initiative and aims to integrate graduate-level education with basic and applied research in materials science. The center currently comprises eleven faculty members and their students from the Departments of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Physics. Our mission is to foster collaborative and interdisciplinary research in the science and engineering of materials and to support the education and professional development of our military and civilian students. The center promotes collaboration among NPS faculty trained in different disciplines and entertains close partnerships with researchers from civilian universities, industry, national laboratories, and other government agencies.
