The Center for Executive Education

The Center for Executive Education offers executive education and professional development opportunities to U.S. Navy military and civilian leaders, providing them with the knowledge, skills and abilities to manage and lead effectively in complex DOD organizations. Thousands of Navy leaders have participated in our programs since 2002, highlighting them as valuable and rewarding life experiences helping advance the goals and mission of the U.S. Navy. Alumni often attend multiple courses during their career and have included current and recent Fleet Commanders, Combatant Commanders, SES, and the Chief of Naval Operations.

The Navy's fully-funded graduate education program supports 71 different subspecialties. Seventy-four different curricula are currently being taught at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey. In addition, 33 other fields of study are possible from over 96 different civilian institutions nationwide. Each year approximately 22% of the graduate assignments for officers are slated to attend civilian institutions.  The Civilian Institutions (CIVINS) Office executes the Navy's mission by supporting these selected active-duty Navy at full-time residency graduate degree programs at accredited institutions within the United States.

Department of Defense Management (DDM)

Offering world-class graduate education programs and professional development opportunities in defense-focused business and public policy to U.S. and allied military officers, defense civilians and defense contractors.

Center for Homeland Defense and Security (CHDS)

All CHDS programs are focused on leadership development to enable the United States to win the war on terrorism. Through graduate- and executive-level coursework, seminars, and research, homeland security leaders gain the analytic skills and substantive expertise they need to counter terrorism. The programs also prepare leaders to bridge gaps in interagency and civil-military cooperation by bringing together a diverse range of participants to share perspectives and lay the foundation for long-term homeland security collaboration.
