WARREN COUNTY, Miss, (WJTV) – A Warren County man has been charged with felony child abuse amid a Warren County Sheriff’s Office investigation of a 4-month-old child’s injuries.

According to Sheriff Martin Pace, authorities were notified that an infant brought to an emergency room by a family member had multiple broken ribs. Aware of the ensuing investigation, Matthew Hudson Barnes, 28, turned himself in to authorities at 10 a.m. on December 16. Barnes was charged with felony child abuse. His bond is set at $20,000.

The Department of Child Protection Services placed the child into its care. The case will be presented to a Warren County grand jury for further proceedings in January.
