INDIAN RIVER COUNTY − A deceased woman was found on the side of the road near the 6100 block of 65th Street in Vero Beach Wednesday afternoon, Indian River County sheriff's officials said.
Deputies received a call at 2:26 p.m. from a passer-by about a body on the the side of the road. When deputies got to the site they found an adult female who was deceased, said Sgt. Kevin Jaworski, sheriff's spokesperson.
Jaworski said they worked into the night processing the area and trying to identify the woman. She has been identified and family has been notified, but they are not releasing her name while the investigation continues, he said.
Jaworski said detectives are working to determine the cause of death, but it is currently being classified as a suspicious death. An autopsy was scheduled this morning.
"There was no obvious signs of trauma to the body, but obviously an autopsy will tell us more about the cause of death," Jaworski said.
