Pueblo County coroner identifies men in suspicious death, homicide
The Pueblo County coroner has identified two men whose deaths occurred on Christmas Eve and Christmas day.
Eric Anthony Tress, 34, of Pueblo was discovered deceased in the 2300 block of North Main Street on Christmas Eve. He was pronounced dead on scene by a Coroner Investigator. His next-of-kin was notified, the coroner stated. Pueblo police responded around 11:15 on Dec. 24 and found an individual, later identified as Tress, dead on scene.
An autopsy is scheduled for Friday, according to Bianca Hicks, a spokesperson for Pueblo Police Department. The results of the autopsy will inform police whether to pursue a homicide investigation.
Meanwhile, Justin Lee Sapeda, 36, of Pueblo was discovered unresponsive in the 2600 block of Himes Avenue on Christmas morning. He was pronounced dead on scene by a Coroner Investigator. An autopsy was also scheduled in the case, and next-of-kin were notified.
Officers responded to the 2600 block of Himes Avenue after dispatch received a 7:06 a.m. report of an unconscious individual on a sidewalk.

Officers arrived on the scene and located a man later identified as Sapeda in a driveway. Officers requested the assistance of the Pueblo Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit and Crime Scene Investigations.
Sepeda's death is the city's 19th homicide of 2024.
