The other driver fled the scene but investigators determined that Kalani Hodges was behind the wheel at the time. Hodges had only recently been released from prison for his connection to a deadly shooting in 2018 when he was a juvenile.

He is charged with homicide by vehicle, leaving the scene of a crime, and reckless driving.
