ComSAR rescues 2 injured hikers on Franklin Mountains
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso Fire Department’s (EPFD) Combined Search and Rescue (ComSAR) team rescued two injured hikers from separate fall incidents on Christmas afternoon, Dec. 25 in Franklin Mountains State Park.
According to fire officials, the first call came in at 11:36 p.m. to reports of an injured hiker who had fallen in the area of Aztec Cave Trail in the Tom Mays Unit.
Shortly afterwards at 12:13 p.m., reports came in of a separate injured hiker on Smuggler’s Pass, near the eastern part of Transmountain Road.
ComSAR has rescued both hikers and both were transported with minor injuries.
