In a seasonal tradition at Stony Brook, members of the University Orchestra, vocal soloists and conductors will perform Handel’s Messiah on Sunday, December 8, at 3 pm in the Recital Hall at Staller Center. At 2:45 pm, a short preconcert will be held, featuring the University Orchestra’s Brass and Percussion Ensemble and a chamber orchestra performing music of Telemann and Peter Warlock.
Admission is free.
Choruses from Part One, Worthy is the Lamb/Amen and the Hallelujah Chorus will all be sung by the audience. Vocal scores will be available for purchase for $10 cash at the door. Solo vocalists will include undergraduate, graduate and DMA students Jeanai La Vita, soprano; Mheco Manlangit, soprano; Michaela Larsen, mezzo-soprano; Dylan Turicek, tenor; and special guest vocalist Christopher Judge, baritone. Conductors are Susan Deaver, Randall Keith Horton, Jeanai La Vita, Alicja Paruch, Hanbo Wang and Shiqi Yang. Fjord Deda is the solo trumpet in “the trumpet shall sound.”
