- "Two sights I have seen. One was Cair Paravel filled with dead Narnians and living Calormenes: and your subjects flying from the city — this way and that, into the woods. Cair Paravel was taken from the sea. Twenty great ships of Calormen put in there in the dark of the night before last night. And the other sight, five leagues nearer than Cair Paravel, was Roonwit the Centaur lying dead with a Calormene arrow in his side."
- ―Farsight to Tirian[src]
The Cair Paravel Massacre took place during the Calormene Conquest of Narnia. Calormenes sailed from Tashbaan to Cair Paravel and surprised and slaughtered its inhabitants. The Narnian King Tirian was not in the castle at the time of the attack, but was informed of the massacre by Farsight the Eagle. Tirian decided to journey to Stable Hill with Jill Pole, Eustace Scrubb, Poggin the Dwarf, Puzzle the Donkey, and Farsight, who were all with him at the time. The resulting conflict, the Battle of Stable Hill, was the last battle of King Tirian, of the country of Narnia, and of the Narnian world.
