Audio files from the Pyjamas Session

A couple of weeks ago, I received a request to capture the sound of cars driving over a wet road. I completely understand the request; there’s something special about that sound. The soft swooshing of tires gliding over the wet surface, combined with the spray of water, creates a delightful auditory experience. Each vehicle leaves behind a whisper of splatter in the air. The overall sound blends low rumbles with high-pitched hisses. The Doppler effect as cars pass by, along with the sound reflections from the wet asphalt, adds a particular depth to the sound. It’s a distinctive sound that beautifully captures a rainy day, in the city.

The day after I got the user's request, I woke up to the sound of rain and the usual hum of traffic outside my window. It was early September, and with the holidays over, people were returning to work and taking their kids back to school. I live in the suburbs of Brussels, right along a relatively busy road, and my house faces a castle surrounded by tall brick walls. These walls reflect the sound of passing cars, creating a unique acoustic environment. I realised that morning that I had access to a very beautiful environment to record the sound that had been requested to me. Talk about synchronicity!

Before I even stepped into the shower, my microphones were already set up, capturing the morning traffic on the wet road. This inspired me to create this versatile Urban Rain sound generator, you're currently listening to, which includes recordings from various sessions, but mostly from that pyjamas session :D Users can easily adjust the sliders to enjoy the soothing sound of rain, with or without the background noise of cars. Or just the opposite.

  This generator with the sliders on the left gives me tingles. The first car passing by is so pleasant. It also has that left-to-right sound effect that helps you focus more, and I love it. With headphones, you will hear the cars passing by.

  You could have recorded this from my balcony.

  This generator reminds me of being in the city on a rainy night, with the calming whoosh of cars and steady white noise of rain. It's very good for focusing and sleep. I slept in class listening to this!

  With this new addition, I can't wait for the Community to create new car-themed generators! Excellent work, as always!

  Never figured I needed something like this before. But it's wonderful, and just makes perfect sense. I live in the suburbs, and I often long for the sounds of human life and traffic ironically, to help put me to sleep, when I am in a too quiet place. But I also need something soft, and organic. And rainy. Just what the doctor ordered! Love your unique selection of noises and quality. Fabulous!

  As always, once again a very nice soundscape. I'm running it alongside Tin Roof Rain, both with slider animation on, making it the absolutely perfect combination to stay focused on work.

  Playing it loud for the first time on my DT 770 PRO headphones gives me tingles in my neck. There's a certain freshness about this generation. I'm feeling energized and the pace of the passing cars is just perfect. Yet I simply can't describe why it's so uplifting. Another masterpiece! :)

  I was just making a custom generator last week to achieve a very similar sound to this! My office at home is the closest room to the road, and the subtle whooshing noise is a frequent object of meditation and background peace for me. I feel somewhat silly playing this generator while I have the real thing outside, but I still find myself doing so today. Love the quotidian charm of this generator!
