Few country acts can get down quite like Brooks & Dunn. Combining George Strait with ZZ Top, the duo put propulsive rhythms under a particularly soulful brand of twang starting in the ‘90s, creating a sound best described by the title of an early hit: "Boot Scootin' Boogie". The song, which culminates with a rockabilly piano breakdown, was lively enough to revive line-dancing, but Brooks & Dunn long outlived that trend. On "Believe" they go country-gospel, and on "My Maria" they show their range with a light acoustic-guitar love song, trading the smoke of the honky-tonk for a cool ocean breeze.
