First formed in Ohio in 1983, Guided By Voices were conceived by the singer/songwriter and elementary school teacher Robert Pollard. Characterised by a lo-fi production vibe and a relentless output of material—not to mention a slew of lineup changes down the years—the group became one of the cornerstone indie rock outfits of the '90s by virtue of albums like Propeller and Alien Lanes. After breaking up in 2004 the band reunited in 2010—before finally splitting again four years later.
