About Sasha Alex Sloan
Sasha Alex Sloan is shaping the modern pop landscape from the inside out. Behind the scenes, the Nashville-via-Los Angeles songwriter has co-written chart hits for superstar DJ Steve Aoki (Louis Tomlinson-featuring “Just Hold On”, which took hold in 2017), Christian hip-hop artist Lecrae (the same year’s platinum-certified “I’ll Find You”) and Camila Cabello (2018’s romantic swoon “Never Be the Same”). The seeds for that success were planted at the Berklee College of Music, where the Boston native (born in 1995) studied before moving to Los Angeles to pursue her songwriting more seriously. She debuted in 2015 in the dance world as a featured vocalist and co-writer of Kaskade’s “Phoenix”, a dual role she’d reprise on Kygo’s 2017 meditative Norwegian electro-pop hit “This Town”. Sloan has since cultivated a solo career predicated on dusky vocals, alternative-pop soundscapes and introspective lyrics brimming with world-weary melancholy. In 2017, she released the low-key singles “Runaway” and “Ready Yet”, a precursor to the release of two 2018 EPs, sad girl and Loser. Striking a balance between writing for others and herself has paid off with bigger songwriting credits (P!NK, Katy Perry), major collaborations (the Charlie Puth-featuring "Is It Just Me?") and a debut full-length, 2020’s Only Child, that incorporates inspiration from delicate indie folk in addition to lush, meticulous pop.
