About JayKae
Born Janum Khan in Small Heath, South-East Birmingham in 1991, JayKae is not only one of grime's finest emcees, but a steady torchbearer for the Brummie scene. While London holds the international grime spotlight, Birmingham has produced worldwide legends like Mike Skinner and Lady Leshurr. JayKae has worked with both of those giants, as well as newer talent like MIST and Lotto Boyzz. He sharpened his pen with freestyle sessions on pirate radio in 2008 and on Charlie Sloth’s Fire in the Booth in 2013. With the release of his Where Have You Been? EP in 2017, he finally infiltrated the mainstream, aided by having the single “Toothache” featured on the television show Power. A ravenous lyrical spitter, he's held his own ground against heavyweights in grime, such as on the Ghetts track “Mozambique” with Moonchild Sanelly. JayKae even lent his flow to pop star Ed Sheeran on 2019’s “Take Me Back to London”, proving his flexible gift for supportive collaboration.
